Is it safe to get to a 14gauge Eargauge this quickly?

Umm my ears were already pierced (since 2) and I haven't worn ear rings for about a year. I would wear regular 16g ear rings if I wore any and when I bought gauges, they were 12g. They fit perfect. I started at a 12g when I found out I could have started at 10g. Just Skip to a 14g.
